I thought I was doing good by walking those two blocks to Kmart, but Dre (the Alpha), took me a little bit farther out.
First stop was to a place called Chambers I think. His cousin works at a bank out there. And we went on the subway, which was an "experience" to say the least. After touching those nasty bars that everyone holds on to, I decided I would never go on there without hand sanitizer. Then the subway station is so confusing...I hope when I ride it by myself I don't get lost.
Then these little kids put on a dance show on the train....while it was moving!! They were break dancing doing little stunts and stuff for donations. So you know me...I gave them all the change out of my wallet, it was alot too...like $3 in quarters. But it wasn't all fun and games. This one little old lady got cussed out, I mean she was kinda rude, but she was an old lady....
So we get off the train and go to Times Square and where Im going to be working...Rockefeller Plaza. We went to Junior's the bakery and the M&M Store. Dre was so nice, he didn't even seem irritated as I continued to say "EVERYTHING IS SOOOOO BIG!!!" and stop in the middle of the street to take pictures....lol...
We went outside of the TODAY show, at nighttime, so nothing was there....but it was fun to see where it was and stuff. We went to the NBC gift shop and they had a good sale, so I got some stuff.
We went to a big H&M, I tried to get Dre to buy some glittery Skinny jeans for himself, but he wasn't having it. And we saw a big Forever 21, but I cant go in there yet, I don't have any money. Then we went the the 9-floor Macy's. It was ok, but I'm not a big Macy's shopper...but they are having this flower show thats pretty cool. Flowers are all over the store and the shop windows have mannequins dressed in real flowers. And guess what, this Macy's is only one block further than the Kmart I've been going to....so Dre told me to be more adventurous and walk one more block...maybe I'll try it...
So I had fun on my first real outing, I can't wait to do more...I need to get some more batteries for my camera!!

Living on W.34th.....The Webster
So I arrived on the 26th...got settled. After a couple hours I went outside (by myself)!!!! I walked a couple blocks up to a Kmart. I couldn't believe a 3-level Kmart was sitting right in the middle of Manhattan. Then I came back to the room and talked on the phone to the fam and friends telling them the place I'm staying. It's called Webster apartments, and ITS NOT A WOMEN'S SHELTER!!! (LOL) It had to grow on me because everything is so old fashion, I feel like I'm living in 1920-something. First of all its all women, men (even dads or boyfriends) aren't even allowed to go up to the rooms to help women move in. But I kinda like this aspect just for the safety factor, and Ralf likes it because he knows no guys will be in my room (ha ha).
Second we get two meals a day but you have to make sure you eat at specific times. Ok, we get two meals a day but they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. So yesterday morning I missed breakfast so Im thinking I'll eat lunch and dinner. Well I go down to get a lunch ticket that says GOOD FOR ONE LUNCH INSTEAD OF DINNER. So after the infamous "WHAT!?!?!" I gave up and went to my fave spot, Chipotle!!! Courtesy of the gift card my bestie Tammie got me!! (Not to mention the lunch was the same as the dinner the night before.
Third, the whole key situation...So we have three keys: 1 for our room, 1 for the closet in our room, and 1 for our mailbox. The room amd closet keys are on the same ring and the mailbox key is ours to keep on a personal key ring. So when we leave the building, everytime we leave the building we leave our room keys in our mailbox and pick them up when we come back.
Overall I like living here. It's nice and clean. There is such a diverse group of women here. Young, old. American, foreign. Interns, students, full time employees. I'm in the TV room righ now talking to one woman, she looks about late 50s, and shes been in and out of the city for about 13yrs as an artist. So I think living here and NYC in general will be a great experience for me!! I'm so excited!!
Oh send me stuff...I like snail mail:
